RUDIMENTS FOR RHYTHM AND WORDS WORKSHOP

New youth workshop for High School students and young adults added!

An introduction to rudiments and rhythm with poet A. K. Toney and musician Alfredo Rivera.

This workshop is designed to assist youth poets and storytellers with presentation using musical accompaniments.  It will assist the student poets by allowing them to effectively communicate with the musician that will perform with them.  Using the tools of memorization, timing, and basic chord theory, student poets will obtain a modest comprehension of call and response with performing in front of audiences.  Thus allowing students to expand their knowledge musically and elevate their writing, giving it liberty on stage as well as on the page for readers and listeners.  More importantly, this process is designed to make poetry sound well crafted, profound and give ambiance when performing through a musical medium.

Time: 10-12pm, Saturdays

Where: Beyond Baroque 681 Venice Bl. Venice, CA 90291
